Minnie Freudenthal

I was born in Luanda in 1954

I completed elementary school at the Queen Elizabeth School in Lisbon. I attended the Academy of Music of Santa Cecilia, the College of S José, in Restelo and finished the 7th year in the Secondary School D. João de Castro.

I finished my undergraduate degree in Medicine in 1978, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. During my first years in college, I taught Anatomy.

As soon as I finished the university I did a voluntary internship at the Medical Service of the Laennec Hospital in Paris. I returned to Portugal and did a Public Health and Clinical Internship, from 1979 to 1982. I worked in School Health in Fornos de Algodres and Work Medicine in Lourinhã. Till 1983 I was a member of the UUM (Medical Emergency Unit) of Hospital de S. José, in Lisbon. Then, I went to the United States of America. After the EFMG exams and VQE requirements to work in the USA, I applied for an unpaid leave to do a postgraduate internship.

From 1983 to 1986 I completed the Residency in Internal Medicine at the New York Infirmary Beekman Downtown Hospital, in New York. In the second year of the program, I was Chief Resident of Internal Medicine.

At the end of the Residence, I was approved by the FEDERAL LICENSING EXAMINATION of the NATIONAL BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS with the classification of 85 and CERTIFYING EXAMINATION IN INTERNAL MEDICINE, USA.

During the years 1987 and 1988, I did Internship in infectious-contagious Diseases in Hospitals belonging to New York Medical College. By that time I also started working in private practice as an Internal Medicine specialist in New York, USA.

I returned to Portugal in 1990 and began working in private practice and as an emergency physician at the Portuguese Red Cross Hospital (Hospital da Cruz-Vermelha).

Since then I have been interested in the nutritional aspects of health and disease. In 2013 I did a Type 2 Diabetes Therapy Course and Diabetes consultations at the Alentejo Litoral Hospital.

My interest in mind-training practices led me to do a Clinical Hypnosis Course at the London School of Clinical Hypnosis, in 2010, and the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course in 2013.

Since 2003 I have given lectures and workshops related to nutrition and neuroscience in business, university and private contexts.
